The very chic Serge Lutens has created a nail varnish …… called “Faux-samblant.”
That’s not all. It is part of a pair of a counterpoised créations. No, the other member of the couple is not Abstinence Contrainte. It is “Sang bleu.”
Yours for €60 online (if one inc.’s the p&p); only €45 at the Salons du Palais Royal Shiseido, Paris 1e; or $65 at Barneys NY. N.(y.)a. in Ireland. It will be hard to spot – being, well, sort of nail-coloured.
I still don’t know whether to laugh or to cry. I admit to feeling smug about the bad reviews and reviewers’ feeling ripped off; taking even MakeupAlley and Blogdorf Goodman to snarky heights of sarcasm. Faus Samblant continues to disseminate deceit and dissent, to rob the robbers, and to be associated with sending up sillinesses and attacking hypocrisy in all its guises. The fit of colour to name might actually be brilliant: but SL should certainly have made an “Abstinence Contrainte” – perhaps a sweet sugar-pink, that turns in certain lights to irridescent shimmer, and at certain angles reveals an underlying layer of hologram black?
Has this happened to you? Or rather, to a favourite character in a favourite Medieval or Renaissance work?
